What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of optimal health. It identifies nutritional and biochemical imbalances in the body that lead to ill health.

Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body. Typical priorities in nutritional therapy consultations include support to achieve optimum energy levels and gastrointestinal health, maintaining a healthy blood sugar balance, supporting emotional and psychological wellbeing, and better understanding tolerance levels to a broad range of food groups.

What you can expect

Prior to your initial assessment you will complete and return a questionnaire about your symptoms, family history, medications and supplements.

During the appointment, together you and Patricia will review your questionnaire and diet and discuss appropriate and achievable changes to make.  You will then receive a tailored nutritional plan and supplement recommendations personalised to you and your specific needs. The personal details you supplied will be kept strictly confidential, and your permission will be sought if your GP needs to be contacted or kept informed about  your programme.

Follow up appointments are generally 4 weeks after the initial assessment to review progress and address and overcome any challenges that have you faced. Depending on your personal circumstances, you may benefit from multiple follow up appointments and the time to discuss your health concerns and history more fully.

Recommended changes can be made gradually or all at once; you set the pace.
